Google's Eric Schmidt and his wife, Wendy, have donated $125 million to create the world's largest AI scholarship program, the New York Times reports.
The initiative, called AI2050, is a joint effort by Google, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
It's designed to fund the next decade's most promising AI research, according to a press release.
"With the involvement of both private and public entities, it is evident that AI will continue to be a focal point of innovation and development in the coming years," the Times quotes Schmidt as saying in the press release.
AI2050 will focus on using AI to solve some of the world's most pressing problems, including health care, climate change, and poverty.
Google's AI2050 was announced last week.
